Letter from the President

Welcome to the Alpha Omicron Pi, Lambda Tau Chapter website! I am extremely excited for you to navigate this resource and show you what this organization has to offer. My name is Elisa Castillion, and I am the 2023 Chapter President for the Lambda Tau Chapter of AOII. I am a senior biology premed student at the University of Louisiana Monroe with hopes to attend medical school and become a pediatrician. As I was finishing up my senior year of highschool in New Orleans, I was very excited to move to a new city and for the new experiences and opportunities I was to gain during my freshman year of college. I would have never expected the turn of events that would have hit March of 2020, the coronavirus. Moving into a new city during a world-wide pandemic cost me real-world, face-to-face interactions during a time of your college years where meeting new people and making friends is crucial. This was one of the reasons I decided to rush a sorority, and I immediately knew AOII was the perfect one for me because of their genuine conversations and open hearts. Although my college experience was definitely altered in numerous ways, I learned to make the most of it due to the sisterhood I gained here at AOII. If you would have told me five years ago that I’d be the chapter president for an internationally accredited sorority, I would have laughed. Yet, here I am! AOII continuously pushes me out of my comfort zone so that I can be the best version of myself, not only within the organization itself, but also in my personal and professional life. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without this sisterhood, and I hope you were able to grasp a small glimpse of how this chapter could impact not only your college experience, but your entire life! Take some time to explore our website to gain more insight on why AOII means so much to its members. If you are struggling with the decision to sign up for recruitment, go for it! Be yourself and never doubt that the process leads you to where you belong. Going Greek has shaped me into the ambitious woman I always wanted to be, and I hope to continuously inspire ambition in the wonderful women around me after my college years.
